One-on--One, 7 month training course with Dr. Johnson-Weaver on creating a gender affirming safe space for your Transgender and Gender-diverse loved one.
Transgender children, adolescents and adults suffer from high rates of anxiety and depression. 50 percent of trans gender youth attempt suicide. These rates are a reflection of the discrimination and transphobia (minority stress) that transgender people face. A safe and inclusive home environment can have a dramatic effect on self confidence, belonging and make "the outside world" not only more tolerable but a place to thrive.
Dr. Johnson-Weaver (he/they) is a black, transgender family physician with 20 years of clinical experience of providing medical care for marginalized communities. He practices from a lens of social justice, medicine and lived experience of multiple minority identities.
Often parents, caregivers or families need additional support to learn how to support their transgender child.
Dr. Weaver provides this 1:1 course from their professional and lived experience as a trans black person.
