Pre-Op (Surgery) Bloodwork. Blood work is often performed prior to an operation to help ensure that a person is healthy enough to undergo surgery and avoid any potential complications which may arise. While the tests listed here are common pre-op requirements, it is important to check with your doctor or surgeon to ensure which tests are appropriate for you. Not all surgeries will have the same pre-op requirements. Pre-op testing is normally ordered around one month before surgery.

CBC, CMP, PT, PTT and INR
CBC
Complete Blood Count (CBC): A CBC provides a number of measurements including red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), hemoglobin, and hematocrit. These tests can help to ensure you are not anemic and do not have any infections. A CBC is often ordered after surgery as well.
CMP
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP): A CMP measures blood sugar, electrolytes, and values related to liver and kidney function. These are all important for assessing if a person has any health issues that may complicate their surgery or their ability to recover
PT. PTT. INR
Prothrombin Time (PT INR) and Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT): These tests evaluate how long it takes your blood to clot. This can help ensure you do not have any bleeding disorders which could be dangerous during and after surgery
