A superbill with date of service, test code and reason for test will be provided to submit to insurance. We do not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance company for the PCR test, however if you have symptoms of coronavirus or direct exposure to someone with coronavirus, insurance generally does cover a portion or all of the cost of the test. Please note health insurance companies do not generally cover the rapid COVID-19 or PCR test for asymptomatic individuals that do not meet certain criteria.  More information regarding this will be provided once you email or text for an appointment.   **There are no refunds for missed or re-scheduled or cancelled appointments**It is your responsibility to make sure you are getting the correct test for example most airlines do not accept rapid covid-19 test for clearance to fly

PCR test

PCR test. Also called a molecular test, this COVID-19 test detects genetic material of the virus using a lab technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A fluid sample is collected by inserting a long nasal swab (nasopharyngeal swab) into your nostril and taking fluid from the back of your nose or by using a shorter nasal swab (mid-turbinate swab) to get a sample.  The nose swab PCR test for COVID-19 is the most accurate and reliable test for diagnosing COVID-19. A positive test means you likely have COVID-19. A negative test means you probably did not have COVID-19 at the time of the test. This test is best used at day 3-7 days of symptoms.

Rapid Covid-19 test

Also called the Antigen test. This COVID-19 test detects certain proteins in the virus. Using a long nasal swab to get a fluid sample, some antigen tests can produce results in minutes (at Resolve MD detection in 10 minutes)  but there's an increased chance of false-negative results — meaning it's possible to be infected with the virus but have a negative result. Depending on the situation, the doctor may recommend a PCR test to confirm a negative antigen test result.

Symptomatic individuals:

Best tested between day 1 and 5 of symptoms.  *If you have symptoms and have a negative test the CDC recommends following this test with a PCR test.

Asymptomatic individuals:

If you are asymptomatic this test can have a high false negative rate and should not be used to give a false sense of security that you do not have coronavirus.   Some studies show a false negative rate at high as 50 percent.

When to test:

A COVID-19 diagnostic test is needed if:

  • You have COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever, cough, tiredness or shortness of breath (loss of smell or taste, diarrhea are also symptoms)
  • You don't have symptoms but you've had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more) with someone who tests positive for the COVID-19 virus or is suspected of having the virus
  • You've participated in activities that increase your risk of COVID-19 and did not stay at least 6 feet away from others — examples include travel, large gatherings or crowded indoor settings.
  • Your doctor or other health care professional or your public health department recommends a test (i.e. travel, return to work etc)

Resolve MD offers testing outside of membership to help the community

Please discuss any results with your PCP

Resolve MD will provide your results via a secure patient portal to discuss with your physician or you can become a member of Resolve MD or schedule a one-time televisit for further counseling about results or assessment if you have symptoms of COVID-19.
